The announcement was made during the official launch of the Italian edition of Lonely Planet’s “Best in Travel 2026” guide on the 22nd in Milan. The event saw participation from the Sri Lanka Consulate General in Milan, representing the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau. The guide also features several exclusive culinary selections from the Northern Province, further showcasing the region’s authentic flavors.
Authorities believe this global recognition will serve as a powerful promotional tool to boost international tourist arrivals and strengthen community-based tourism initiatives across the island.
