Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said yesterday that 17,000 children have been identified as being in highly vulnerable situations.

Speaking at the North Western Provincial Council Auditorium during the North Western Provincial Council A/L Excellence Awards Program, organized by the President's Fund, the Minister said that the government is monitoring children at all levels and taking steps to ensure their social security.

He added that the current government, led by the President, is committed to building a country suitable for future generations, ensuring no child is left behind in its development and welfare programs.
