Authorities in Kattankudy have launched an investigation after the severed head of a 66-year-old man was discovered floating in a lagoon on Saturday evening.
Police say the individual had been reported missing by his family two days prior. Early findings point to a possible crocodile attack, as the lagoon is known to be heavily populated with the reptiles and frequently considered a danger zone for local residents.
The remains have been transferred to the Kattankudy Hospital morgue, where a postmortem examination will determine the exact cause of death.
Officials are urging residents to exercise caution near the lagoon as inquiries continue.
