The Sri Lanka Men’s 4x100m relay team blazed to victory with a remarkable time of 39.99 seconds, while the Women’s 4x100m relay team followed up moments later with a superb finish of 44.70 seconds to secure their gold.
Adding to the country’s medal tally, Kalinga Kumarage powered his way to victory in the Men’s 400m, claiming gold with an impressive 46.21 seconds. His teammate Kalhara Indupa joined him on the podium, earning the bronze medal in the same event.
In the field events, Milantha Sampath, a former long jumper who has transitioned to discus throw, captured the bronze medal in the Men’s Discus Throw, while Sayuri Mendis added another bronze for Sri Lanka in the Women’s 400m.
Sri Lanka’s exceptional showing in both track and field events has once again highlighted the nation’s growing strength and depth in athletics across South Asia.
