Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD has assured that its recently announced global vehicle recall does not apply to Sri Lanka. The company confirmed that all BYD models currently operating in the country remain unaffected.

The recall, which involves approximately 115,000 BYD Tang and Yuan Pro vehicles, targets specific Tang models manufactured between March 28, 2015, and July 28, 2017, and certain Yuan Pro vehicles manufactured between February 6, 2021, and August 5, 2022. These models have not been introduced or sold in the Sri Lankan market.

All BYD vehicles in Sri Lanka are imported, distributed, and serviced exclusively through authorized distributor John Keells CG Auto (Pvt) Ltd. The company emphasized that locally sold vehicles are covered by comprehensive manufacturer warranties and supported by after-sales facilities with trained electric vehicle technicians.

“BYD is committed to the safety, transparency, and responsible practices of all its customers around the world,” the statement read.
