Civil society leaders also raised concerns about delays in conducting the final rites of Muslim devotees due to procedures introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic
They said that despite the situation returning to normal, certain officials continue to insist on outdated documentation, causing distress to families.
Minister Herath clarified that a circular has already been issued to restore pre-pandemic procedures and instructed authorities to ensure compliance. He requested that instances where delays continue be reported so corrective action can be taken.
