The skipper and the boat allegedly used to transport Ishara Sewwandi, one of the main suspects in the murder of underworld figure “Ganemulla Sanjeewa”, to India have been taken into custody in Jaffna.

According to police sources, the arrests were made during a special operation conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Navy. The vessel is believed to have been used to illegally transport Sewwandi to India following the murder.

Investigations have revealed that the skipper had received a substantial payment for facilitating the escape. Both the suspect and the boat have been handed over to the CID for further inquiry as part of the ongoing investigation into the high-profile murder case.
