Lahiru Achintha wins gold, Nethmi Gimhani claims bronze at Asian Youth Games 2025

Sri Lanka’s Lahiru Achintha delivered a remarkable performance at the Asian Youth Games 2025 held in Bahrain, clinching the gold medal in the Boys’ 1500m event on Thursday.

Achintha clocked an impressive 3 minutes and 57.42 seconds, setting a new personal best and securing first place ahead of Luhiu Sha of China and Ho Chun Au of Hong Kong, who won the silver and bronze medals respectively.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s Nethmi Gimhani added to the country’s medal tally by earning a bronze medal in the Girls’ 1500m event, finishing with a time of 4 minutes and 52.32 seconds.

Their achievements mark another proud moment for Sri Lanka in the Asian Youth Games athletics arena.
