The fire reportedly started on the second floor of the three-story building. Officers from the Kalutara Municipal Council Fire Brigade are currently working to bring the blaze under control using two fire trucks.

Firefighters faced significant challenges rescuing several individuals who were trapped on the third floor due to the fire spreading from the second floor.

Authorities confirmed that all tourists staying at the hotel have been safely evacuated.

Police and fire officials stated that several documents, including passports, as well as other valuable property in the rooms, were damaged in the incident.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are currently underway.
