The Meteorology Department has issued a warning for multi-day fishing boats operating in the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea areas, due to a developing weather system over the southeast Arabian Sea.

According to the latest report, the Depression over the southeast Arabian Sea moved slowly north-northeastwards at a speed of around 3 kmph during the past six hours. As of 0000 UTC on 23 October 2025, it was centered near latitude 9.7°N and longitude 67.7°E.

The system is expected to continue moving northeastwards across the southeast Arabian Sea over the next 24 hours.

As a result, wind speeds in the sea areas under the “Advisory” category may increase to 55–65 kmph at times, accompanied by heavy thundershowers. The Met Department has cautioned that these areas will be rough to very rough at times, posing a danger to fishing and marine activities.

Fishermen are strongly advised not to venture into these sea areas until further notice.
