Over 10,000 people affected by adverse weather across 12 districts

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reports that 10,553 individuals from 12 districts have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions.

DMC Director General Pradeep Kodippili stated that four deaths have been reported so far due to various weather-related disasters, while 387 houses have been partially damaged.

Meanwhile, Cabinet Spokesman Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced during today’s Cabinet media briefing that the government expects to provide compensation of Rs. 1 million for each death caused by disaster-related incidents.

According to the Department of Meteorology, the low-pressure area currently located near the northern coast is expected to intensify into a depression within the next 12 hours and move across the northern Tamil Nadu coast
