The Cabinet of Ministers has approved a joint proposal to sign the United Nations Convention against Cybercrimes (UNCC), adopted at the 55th main session of the UN General Assembly in December 2024.

The convention serves as a global framework to address and combat critical cybercrime challenges through international cooperation. By joining the convention, Sri Lanka will be able to strengthen its capacity to prevent and combat cybercrimes, enhance cross-border collaboration, recover stolen assets, protect victims and witnesses, and access technological and capacity-building support.

The proposal was jointly presented by President [Name], in his capacity as Minister of Digital Economy, along with the Minister of Justice and National Integration and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism.
