Police said the driver of a private bus travelling from Colombo to Mannar lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a roadside tree.
The deceased has been identified as a 29-year-old resident of Asikulam, Murunkan.
Eight men and two women injured in the crash are receiving treatment at the Mannar and Vavuniya hospitals. The bus driver is also among the injured.
The body has been placed at the Settikulam Hospital morgue, while Parayanalankulam Police are conducting further investigations.
