The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) has warned of an increased risk of dengue fever across the country due to the ongoing rise in rainfall.

According to the NDCU, a surge in dengue cases has been reported from eleven districts, including Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Matara, Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Ratnapura, Batticaloa, and Jaffna.

Over the past few days, more than 40 dengue cases and 22 deaths have been reported nationwide, health officials said.

The NDCU urged the public to clean their surroundings and eliminate mosquito breeding sites to help prevent the further spread of the disease.
