According to reports, the university administration has temporarily suspended both groups of students involved and removed them from the faculty premises to maintain order.
The incident is said to have originated from a dispute over scores during a cricket match held yesterday, which was later resolved amicably. However, tensions flared again today (20), leading to another confrontation between the two groups.
Around six students have reportedly sustained injuries during the altercation. The students involved have been brought to the Kamburupitiya Police Station for further investigation.
