The SIU, which operates under the direct supervision of the Inspector General of Police, is tasked with investigating internal misconduct and allegations against police officers.
However, it has been identified that many investigations have been delayed due to the limited number of officers currently attached to the unit.
Accordingly, steps are being taken to assign more personnel to the SIU and to grant them authority to directly coordinate with intelligence agencies.
