Train services along the Kelani Valley railway line have been temporarily disrupted following a derailment that occurred this evening between Kosgama and Avissawella stations.

Preliminary reports indicate that one wheel of the train came off the track, but no injuries have been reported among passengers or staff.

Railway officials have begun clearance and repair work at the site, while train operations are currently limited up to the Kosgama station until further notice.

Authorities have advised passengers traveling on the Kelani Valley line to expect delays and possible cancellations until the line is fully restored.
