An Air China flight from China’s Hangzhou to Seoul in South Korea was forced to make an emergency landing in Shanghai on Saturday after a lithium battery kept in a bag in the overhead cabin of the plane sparked a fire, local media reported. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

According to a South China Morning Post report, Flight CA139 departed Hangzhou at 9:47 am (local time), bound for Incheon International Airport, with a scheduled arrival of 12:20 pm.

The plane diverted to Shanghai Pudong International Airport after a passenger’s lithium battery, stored in the overhead compartment, unexpectedly caught fire.
