The Department of Irrigation has announced that six sluice gates of the Rajanganaya Reservoir have been opened as a result of the prevailing heavy rainfall.
In addition, the department stated that two sluice gates of the Angamuwa Reservoir have also been opened following a rise in its water level.
The Irrigation Department has further urged residents living in low-lying areas along the Kala Oya River to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions due to the possible risk of flooding.
