A prison jailer has been arrested by the Kalutara North Police for allegedly assisting a woman to supply drugs and mobile phones to an inmate at the Kalutara Prison.
Police said the arrested suspect is a 53-year-old jailer residing in Waskaduwa. The arrest follows the recent detention of a woman from Hirana, Panadura, who was preparing to deliver “ice,” heroin, and a mobile phone to a prisoner.
Upon questioning the woman, police uncovered that the jailer had allegedly accepted Rs. 35,000 for his involvement.
The suspect is expected to be produced before the Kalutara Magistrate’s Court, while the Kalutara North Police continue further investigations into the incident.
