Police said the woman, identified as 34-year-old Shravan Lakshmi, had been viewing the iconic bridge when she was hit by a train traveling from Badulla to Colombo at around 11.05 a.m.
It was reported that she was trapped between the train platform and the train, sustaining injuries.
She was initially admitted to the Demodara Hospital and later transferred to the Badulla Provincial General Hospital for further medical examinations and treatment.
