The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) reached a historic milestone today (October 17), with the All Share Price Index (ASPI) surpassing the 22,500-point mark for the first time in history.

The ASPI surged by 217.65 points, closing at a record high of 22,633.80 points, reflecting strong investor confidence and sustained market momentum.

Meanwhile, today’s market turnover exceeded Rs. 11.28 billion, indicating heightened trading activity across multiple sectors.

Market analysts attribute the rally to improved investor sentiment, positive corporate earnings, and growing optimism about Sri Lanka’s economic outlook.

This marks another significant achievement for the CSE in 2025, continuing its upward trajectory following several months of robust performance.
