Sri Lanka’s landmark Port City Colombo (PCC) has been recognized as the Best Knowledge Zone in the Asia-Pacific region at the fDi Intelligence Global Free Zones of the Year 2025 awards — a prestigious global accolade that marks a significant milestone for the nation’s flagship smart city project.

Developed on 269 hectares of reclaimed land adjacent to the Colombo coastline, Port City Colombo has operated as a special economic zone (SEZ) since 2021. Over the years, it has rapidly evolved into a hub for high-value service-sector investments, attracting leading international firms in finance, technology, and professional services.

The judging panel commended PCC for its investor-friendly regulatory environment, competitive tax incentives, and robust legal framework, which together have positioned it as one of the region’s most promising destinations for knowledge-based industries.

This global recognition further underscores Sri Lanka’s emergence as a key player in the regional service economy, showcasing the country’s growing capability to attract and sustain foreign direct investment (FDI) in cutting-edge sectors.

Officials from Port City Colombo stated that the award reflects the success of its vision to become South Asia’s premier financial and innovation hub, paving the way for a new era of economic growth and international collaboration.
