The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has successfully surpassed its tax revenue target for the first nine months of 2025, marking a notable achievement in government revenue collection.

According to officials who briefed the Committee on Ways and Means in Parliament, the IRD achieved 102% of its expected revenue collection during the period. As of September 30, 2025, the department had collected Rs. 1,641,997 million, exceeding the projected target of Rs. 1,610,599 million.

This performance represents 75% of the total annual tax revenue target of Rs. 2,195,220 million, indicating strong progress toward meeting the full-year goal.

Officials attributed the positive outcome to improved tax administration, digitalization initiatives, and enhanced compliance efforts across key sectors. The IRD continues to implement reforms aimed at broadening the tax base and strengthening fiscal sustainability.
