A vessel believed to be carrying a stock of narcotics has been intercepted by the Sri Lanka Navy in the southern seas.

The operation led to the apprehension of the suspicious boat along with its five-member crew. The seized vessel is currently being escorted to the Galle Harbour for further inspection and legal proceedings.

Preliminary investigations are underway to determine the nature and quantity of the suspected narcotics. The Sri Lanka Navy continues to maintain enhanced surveillance and patrols in the island’s maritime zones to curb illegal drug trafficking and smuggling activities.
