US Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Julie Chung, has confirmed that there has been no change to the travel advisory for Sri Lanka recently issued by the US Department of State.

Ambassador Chung noted that the Department of State regularly updates travel advisories to help US citizens make informed decisions about international travel.

“The Travel Advisory issued for Sri Lanka on October 9 remains at Level 2. There was no change to the advisory level,” she stated in a post on ‘X’.

The clarification comes amid reports claiming that the US had revised its travel advisory for Sri Lanka. The advisory was updated last week only to highlight landmine risks, following the release of previously restricted lands in the war-affected Northern region.
