The Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education Ministry has appointed a six-member expert committee to review and improve the academic courses at the University of Vocational Technology (UNIVOTEC), Ratmalana.
The committee has been tasked with providing recommendations to the Minister to elevate the quality of courses to meet national and international standards. The appointments were made by the Secretary to the Ministry, Mr. Nalaka Kaluwewa.
The committee members are
- Dr. Janaka Jayalath – Chairman, Member of the Advisory Board of the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education
- Prof. Thushara Chaminda – Member, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna
- Prof. J.C.N. Rajendra – Member, Member of the Council of the University of Vocational Technology
- Dr. K.A. Lalithatheera – Member, Director General, Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission
- Eng. S.B. Anura Deshapriya Semasinghe – Member, Chief Executive Officer, Central Engineering Services (Private) Ltd., Sri Lanka/Abu Dhabi
- Himali W.K. Athaudage – Convener, Additional Secretary, Vocational Education Division, Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education
- The committee will provide detailed suggestions and recommendations to strengthen UNIVOTEC’s courses and align them with international standards.
