Sri Lanka has dropped one place to 98th in the latest Henley Passport Index, with its passport now offering visa-free access to just 41 countries worldwide.
The country was ranked 97th in the previous index released on September 11. In 2024, Sri Lanka had shown notable improvement, climbing five places to 91st earlier this year before slipping in the latest update.
Singapore continues to hold the top position as the world’s most powerful passport, granting visa-free entry to 193 countries. South Korea ranks second with access to 190 destinations, followed by Japan in third place with the same number.
Among regional peers, India has fallen five places to 85th, providing visa-free access to 57 countries. Bangladesh is ranked 100th, while Pakistan stands at 103rd. Afghanistan remains at the bottom of the index, ranked 106th, with its citizens able to enter only 24 countries without a visa.
