Over 5.7 million people checked in island-wide police operation

Police Media Spokesperson ASP F.U. Wootler said that 5,700,000 individuals have been screened since January 1 under the special police operation carried out across the island.

He said those individuals were subjected to both physical examinations and questioning as part of the ongoing anti-crime initiative.

According to the Police, legal action has been taken against 4,082 suspects connected to various criminal activities.

In addition, 120,000 people were questioned on suspicion, while 35,035 individuals were arrested on outstanding warrants.

The operation also led to the seizure of 66 T-56 rifles, 69 pistols, and 50 revolvers, ASP Wootler stated.
