Gold prices in Sri Lanka recorded a sharp increase today (15), rising by more than Rs. 5,000 compared to yesterday’s (14) rates.

In the Pettah gold market, a 22-carat gold sovereign is now priced at Rs. 342,000, up from Rs. 337,600 yesterday. Meanwhile, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign has increased from Rs. 365,000 to Rs. 370,000, according to market traders.

Traders attribute the surge to fluctuations in global gold prices and the depreciation of the Sri Lankan Rupee against the US Dollar.
