Attorney-at-Law Gunaratne Wanninayake has filed a writ petition before the Court of Appeal, seeking an order to prevent his arrest.

The Inspector General of Police, the Mount Lavinia Police Headquarters Inspector, and several others have been named as respondents in the petition.

In his submission, Mr. Wanninayake claims that the police are preparing to illegally arrest him over an incident where he allegedly obstructed a police officer in the discharge of his duties at the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court premises recently.
