Two Special Task Force (STF) officers have departed for Nepal to bring back five Sri Lankans, including Ishara Sewwandi, the main suspect in the murder of organized crime gang member Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne, alias "Ganemulla Sanjeewa."

The officers will assist the CID team already in Nepal and are expected to return to Sri Lanka this evening.

Ishara Sewwandi was arrested in a joint operation with Nepalese security forces at a house approximately 18 kilometers from Kathmandu. Four others, including another woman, were also taken into custody. Among them is a close associate of ‘Kehelbaddara Padme,’ currently in police custody and identified as a gang leader.

Sanjeewa Kumara Samararatne was shot dead inside the Aluthkade Court complex on February 19, with the murder reportedly carried out by Kehelbaddara Padme’s faction.
