The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the implementation of the “Country Together – National Mission”, a comprehensive national programme aimed at eradicating the spread of narcotics in Sri Lanka.
Recognizing that drug abuse has become a serious national hazard and a major contributor to criminal activities, the government has identified the need for an efficient decision-making mechanism and a coordinated national effort involving broad public participation.
The “Country Together – National Mission” will focus on raising public awareness, disrupting narcotics trafficking networks, strengthening rehabilitation programmes, and providing support and opportunities for individuals seeking to overcome addiction.
The Cabinet granted approval to the proposal submitted by President [Name if known] to implement the mission as an urgent and immediate national programme. A National Steering Committee will also be established to guide and monitor the progress of the initiative.
Through this mission, the government aims to mobilize the public, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations in a unified effort to eliminate the narcotics menace and promote a drug-free society.
