He was produced before the court in connection with an ongoing investigation conducted by the Bribery Commission. After considering submissions made by both the prosecution and the defense, the Magistrate ordered that the former State Minister be released on bail.
The court further directed Rajapaksa to appear before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) as required for future proceedings.
