Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya arrived in Beijing today for an official visit to participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women 2025, following an invitation from the Government of the People’s Republic of China. On arrival, she was warmly welcomed by Ms. Cao Shumin, Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration.

During the first day of her visit, the Prime Minister toured some of China’s most iconic landmarks, including the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China. The Forbidden City, also known as the Palace Museum and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is renowned for its imperial architecture and extensive national collections. The Great Wall, another UNESCO-listed site, reflects China’s historical ingenuity and ongoing efforts in heritage conservation.

In the coming days, Dr. Amarasuriya will participate in the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women 2025 and hold high-level bilateral discussions, including meetings with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China.
