WHO DG arrives in Sri Lanka for Regional Health Summit

World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus arrived in Sri Lanka today (12) to participate as the Chief Guest at the 78th Session of the WHO South-East Asia Regional Committee.

The high-level conference, organized by the WHO, is scheduled to take place in Colombo from October 13 to 15, bringing together health ministers and senior officials from across the South-East Asia region to discuss key public health priorities and collaborative initiatives.

Dr. Ghebreyesus arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at 9.40 a.m. from Doha aboard Qatar Airways flight QR 660. He was warmly received at the VIP lounge by Health and Media Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

The regional session is expected to focus on strengthening healthcare systems, advancing digital health, and enhancing pandemic preparedness among member nations.
