Mount Lavinia Magistrate Pasan Amarasekara has directed YouTuber Sudaththa Thilakasiri to appear in court on October 28 over a complaint alleging that he harassed a woman by linking her name to the death of ruggerite Wasim Thajudeen in one of his programmes.

The court also ordered the immediate suspension of any related content being broadcast on the YouTube channel and TikTok account operated by Mr. Thilakasiri.

The order was issued after considering submissions made on behalf of the petitioner, who claimed that Mr. Thilakasiri, through his programme “Classic Sudaa”, had published defamatory and harmful material about her.

The petition further stated that the woman had no connection to Wasim Thajudeen or his death and that the YouTuber’s actions had caused her severe harassment and emotional distress.

President’s Counsel Maithree Gunaratne, appearing with Attorneys Kusal Senanayake and Migara Gunaratne, told the court that the legal action was filed to seek justice and prevent the continued spread of falsehoods about the petitioner.
