A police constable allegedly assaulted a lawyer today within the premises of the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.

The incident reportedly occurred after the conclusion of a case in which the lawyer was appearing. When the lawyer attempted to move his car to allow a prison bus to pass, an argument broke out between him and the police constable, which allegedly escalated into a physical assault.

The constable involved was arrested and produced before Mount Lavinia Magistrate Pasan Amarasena, who ordered him to be remanded until 13 October 2025.
