The Sri Lankan national football team defeated Turkmenistan 1–0 in the Asian Cup qualifying match held yesterday (9) at the Colombo Racecourse Grounds. This marks Sri Lanka’s first-ever win against Turkmenistan, making it a memorable achievement in the country’s football history.
As a result of this victory, Sri Lanka has climbed six positions to secure the 191st spot in the FIFA world rankings. Meanwhile, Turkmenistan has dropped five places, moving down to 143rd position.
