Speaking to the media following the meeting, Ven. Gnanasara Thera praised the former President, describing him as an “unforgettable leader” who played a historic role in ending the three-decade-long civil war.
“Mahinda Rajapaksa is a hero we have seen during our lifetime. He ended a 30-year war, even though many said this guerrilla war could not be ended,” the thera said.
