The IGP Challenge Cup National Cadet Camp, which commenced on October 4 with the participation of 42 boys’ teams and 21 girls’ teams representing over 500 schools across the country, is scheduled to conclude tomorrow at the Aluvihare Police College playground.
A total of 1,575 cadet officers — 1,050 boys and 525 girls — along with 40 officers from the Police Cadet Division, took part in this year’s national camp, showcasing the discipline, teamwork, and leadership of Sri Lankan youth.
The closing ceremony will be held under the patronage of Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs Ananda Wijepala, with Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya and senior officers from the police and education sectors also in attendance.
Established in 1972, the Police Cadet Service continues to play a vital role in fostering discipline and leadership among students nationwide.
Meanwhile, starting from October 10, the Police Cadet Division will launch a series of leadership, first aid, and school-based drug prevention programs targeting student leaders from Grades 9 to 13.
The Sri Lanka Police Cadet Division has encouraged parents to motivate their children to join the Police Cadet Program, emphasizing its importance in nurturing a disciplined, responsible, and community-minded generation.
