The Ministry of Public Security has dismissed as completely false a social media post claiming that its Secretary, retired Senior DIG Ravi Seneviratne, stated India was behind the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
Police said Mr. Seneviratne appeared before the Parliamentary High Posts Committee on October 8, 2025, where he responded to questions raised during the session, but at no point did he make any remark implicating India in the attacks.
The Secretary emphasized that the social media posts making such claims are entirely untrue and misleading.
Police further stated that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been instructed to investigate those responsible for spreading the fabricated report, while Mr. Seneviratne has directed his legal representatives to take appropriate legal action against the individuals involved.
