The Sri Lanka Navy has taken 47 Indian fishermen into custody for illegally fishing in the country’s territorial waters.
The Northern and North Central Naval Commands apprehended the fishermen near Talaimannar and Delft Islands. Five boats used in the illegal activity were also seized.
The detained fishermen will be handed over to the Fisheries Inspectorate for further legal action.
