A fire broke out at a tea factory in Nallathanniya at around 1:00 a.m. today (9), causing significant damage to the facility.

According to an Ada Derana correspondent, the blaze originated and quickly spread to the storage area where tea leaves and packaged tea powder were kept. As a result, a large stock of finished tea products was extensively destroyed.

Reports indicate that the fire spread rapidly, raising fears of it engulfing the entire factory. However, the swift and collective response of estate workers helped to bring the situation under control before it could reach other sections of the building.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire, while no injuries have been reported so far.
