A tragic incident has been reported from Nugegoda, where a 5-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel yesterday (08) evening.
Police said the child, a resident of Thalapathpitiya, Nugegoda, had been participating in swimming training with a group of pre-school teachers and a coach at the time of the incident.
He was rushed to the Kalubowila Hospital but was pronounced dead upon admission.
Mirihana Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
