Over 34,000 Tourists arrive in Sri Lanka during first six days of October

A total of 34,046 tourists have arrived in Sri Lanka during the first six days of October 2025, marking a 14% increase compared to 25,965 arrivals recorded during the same period in October 2024.

According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), the total number of tourist arrivals so far this year (as of October 6) has exceeded 1.75 million.

India continues to lead as the top source market with 386,030 arrivals (22%), followed by the United Kingdom with 164,093 (9%), and Russia with 123,414 (7%).

During the first six days of October alone, India accounted for 10,738 arrivals (31.5%), while China contributed 3,684 (10.8%), the United Kingdom 2,200 (6.5%), Germany 1,988 (5.8%), and Bangladesh 1,577 (4.6%).

Tourism authorities expressed optimism that the upward trend will continue in the final quarter of 2025, supported by ongoing promotional campaigns and improved air connectivity.
