The Cabinet has approved an additional Rs. 5 billion to provide financial subsidies for fertilizer in 2025.
This decision comes in light of the estimated total area of paddy and other field crops expected to be cultivated during the 2025/26 Maha season, which indicated the need for extra funding.
Following the recommendation of the Food Policy and Security Committee, the joint proposal by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Lands and Irrigation and the Minister of Trade, Commerce, Food Security and Cooperative Development was approved by the Cabinet to ensure continued support for farmers.
