The payment, previously rejected by the Cabinet-appointed Special Officers Committee and the Reparations Office Board, was allegedly approved by Kumari without proper authorization. CIABOC claims she abetted corruption and criminal misappropriation of public property by instructing officials to release the funds on January 26, 2024.
She is to be produced before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court. Earlier, former State Minister Shasheendra Rajapaksa was also arrested in connection with the same case involving compensation for damaged government property during the May 9, 2022, protests.
