More than 400 women have been convicted and sent to jail from January 1 to August 31 this year, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya told Parliament today.
She further stated that during the same period, around 4,686 women are being held in remand custody on suspicion.
Additionally, 38 women have been jailed over various other incidents so far this year, the Prime Minister added.
