The Sri Lanka Police have cautioned the public about a growing number of online scams, particularly financial frauds conducted through platforms such as Telegram, WhatsApp, and other social media networks.

Police said that complaints are being received daily regarding these fraudulent activities. They noted that scammers often deceive victims by promising monetary rewards or assistance, subsequently obtaining sensitive information such as bank account numbers, passwords, and other confidential details.

Authorities urged the public to exercise caution when sharing personal or financial information online and to verify the authenticity of digital communications before engaging in any financial transactions.
